As we approach our 100,000th company scan, the Cyber Tzar team is proud — not just because of the milestone itself, but because of what it represents: the scale, resilience, and principles behind the technology we’ve built.
At Cyber Tzar, scanning isn’t an optional add-on. It’s the core engine of our cyber risk intelligence platform, designed, built and deployed entirely in-house.
What We Learned at CYBERUK 2025
At CYBERUK 2025, we spoke with cyber risk vendors, enterprise buyers and public sector leaders. What we heard was revealing.
Many platforms offering “cyber risk visibility” rely on outsourcing their scanning to third-party providers. These vendors effectively act as front-ends to someone else’s data, often paying per-scan fees and passing those costs (and risks) directly to customers.
In some cases, they don’t even own the scanning capability. The result? Higher costs, lower flexibility, and limited insight.
Delegating your scanning core adds cost and fragility, not value. As Scott McNealy once quipped: “The only value you can add to a banana is a bruise.”
Why We Built It Ourselves
From the start, we knew we had to build something smarter, leaner and truly scalable, without giving up control or sovereignty.
Cyber Tzar is fully developed, delivered and hosted in the UK, regulated by the ICO and managed end-to-end by our team. The platform is ours. We architected and operate it entirely in-house.
That said, we’re not isolationist: we use best-in-class open-source tools, integrate selected third-party data sources, and combine them with our own self-developed scanning engines and orchestration layers. This gives us the flexibility and depth to evolve constantly, without being dependent on vendors or outsourcing our scanning capability.
This means:
-
No per-scan fees or artificial limits.
We don’t defer scanning until self-assessments (with their low completion rates). We deliver comparative insights upfront and at volume. -
Massive scale, on demand.
Today, we’re processing between 2,000–6,000 supply chain scans per day. Our architecture scales fluidly with demand. -
Total control over data and risk models.
We prioritise threats, align to compliance frameworks and integrate new models, without waiting on third parties. -
Support for complex portfolios.
Whether you’re an SMB, a midmarket enterprise, or a multinational with thousands of third parties, our infrastructure adapts to your needs.
Why Sovereignty Matters
In an era of national cyber strategies and heightened regulatory focus, being UK-built isn’t just a marketing line — it’s a trust signal.
Our customers know:
-
Where their data is processed
-
Who built and supports the platform
-
That they’re not dependent on opaque, offshore systems
And because our dev team is internal, we’re agile. We respond rapidly to changes in standards, threats, and business needs.
True Transparency, End-to-End
Our platform delivers risk insights that resonate at every level — from boardroom dashboards to CISO impact assessments, all the way down to individual vulnerabilities and lines of code.
Can your supplier risk platform do that?
